Will TurboTax be able to e-file my California 568 for a single member LLC this year?

I have a single member LLC and because last year I couldn't file my California state taxes (Form 568 required) I had to stop using the product.  I'd really like to do my own taxes again!

The forms availability table (link below) shows the form will be available but e-file will not be supported.

That's unfortunate.  So many people are asking for this and I once again can't use TurboTax because I refuse to manually file my entire CA state return because of one form that can't be e-filed :( Such a waste of paper.

This is very confusing as I just filed this filed this Friday and received a confirmation email from TurboTax that my efile was successful and the following items were sent.

  • 2020 Federal Personal
  • 2020 California Personal
  • 2020 California LLC Filing

Later that evening I received an email that my CA LLC Filing was accepted.

Any ideas on why I received this email, if TurboTax does not support efiling form 568.  I used TurboTax Self Employed Online.

In 2020, you can electronically file your Form 568 when you file your personal income tax return as long as you only have one Form 568

If you have multiple Form 568 forms, you will not be able to electronically file using the program.

How do we trigger the form in the interview section of TTD Home & Business though?

TurboTax for California State Tax Returns includes Form 568. If this form should be associated with a Schedule C, go to Forms mode and check the box on the California Schedule C Worksheet for "Single member LLC".  Form 568 will then be generated, pulling information from your Schedule C entries.

If your LLC is associated with a rental property, look for a similar box on the California Schedule E Worksheet like the one for Schedule C. Again, Form 568 will be created.

Note that TurboTax will create and e-file only ONE Form 568 per California return. If you have more than one, you will need request an e-file waiver and mail your entire State return. If you look on Form 568, p 1-2, at the bottom, there is a notice. If the box is checked, you have to mail the form, as it can't be e-filed. But if that box is not checked, it appears the form can be e-filed with the rest of your return. As long as your Form 568 does not include one of those exceptions, it can be e-filed.

Is TurboTax still e-filing only ONE Form 568 per California tax return?  TWO Form 568 was created on client Tax return.

You can efile only one Form 568 based on California's guidelines.
