A worker being treated as an independent contractor may be considered to be a statutory employee with income reported on Form W-2.

If you have never been classified as or you know you are not a statutory employee, you should review the information entered for your Form W-2.

To look at your W-2 wage information, please:

  • Click on Federal in the column on the left side
  • Click on Wages and Income
  • Click Edit/Add button beside your W-2 information
  • Click Edit beside your Form W-2
  • Scroll to the Box 13 questions.
  • Is the box beside Statutory employee checked?  (See the screenshot below)
  • Uncheck the box if it is checked.
