Turbotax is trying to charge me because I have Lifetime Learning Credit (LLC) but I do not have LLC? What do I do?

When I was filling out the information Turbo Tax told me that I did not qualify for Lifetime Learning Credit. Now that I am trying to file it is telling me that I need to upgrade to Turbo Tax Deluxe because I have the Lifetime Learning Credit, which is not the case. I do not know what to do.

TurboTax may have entered the Learning Credit for you based on other info you entered. Look at any education you entered. If you were not in college, you may be able to just remove that info. If you were in school and do qualify for the LLC, you might try clicking on the Live Assist to ask a TurboTax "expert."

The TurboTax product you started using does not support Form 8863. Delete form 8863. Here are the steps.

  1. Open TurboTax.
  2. In the panel on the left side, select Tax Tools > Tools.
  3. Delete a form.
  4. Delete Form 8863.
  5. Sign out of TurboTax.
  6. Open TurboTax > Continue.

Hello,

I followed the steps you detailed but there was no Form 8863 listed to delete. What should I do?

Delete the Personal Info-Student Info Worksheet.

@MarilynG1

That seemed to have worked! Will I need to refill out that section or is it okay to leave that information out and just file?

No, leave it blank and you will be able to file with no problems.
