Tax Year Prior to 2020: I have a single member llc and am filing schedule c on personal name should I issue 1099 misc on llc name or personal name?

Business is in ABC LLC, say.  Since LLC is single member LLC. I have been filing Schedule C on personal name and SSN.  I have to issue a 1099 misc to a contractor.  I know I am late and there is a penalty.  But do I issue the 1099 MIsc using LLC name or personal name?

It's preferable to file it under the LLC.  Also, you should include your LLC name on your Schedule C going forward. You can still operate your business under both your LLC and your personal name.  All income/expenses to either you, or the LLC, can be filed on the same Schedule C.

Thanks for responding Karen.  I wrote incorrectly that I was filing schedule c.  It is schedule e that I was filing since the only income is rental income.  There is no other income.  I have the contractor's EIN and am ready to issue 1099- Misc and close out the return.  Should I issue the 1099 using the LLC's EIN or my personal SSN?  Thanks again for the quick response.  Ninth year with TT and going... )

If that is the case, then you can use your own name.   Thank you!  🙂
