if you don't have any k-1's page 2 is not required unless you are a real estate professional

I am also not able to print this 2nd page of 2 additional properties for the schedule E even when I print for my own records. This page is ABSOLUTELY necessary because there was a loss on the second page and it would be impossible to understand my taxes without the second page. I may need to get the form and fill in this page by hand. I really don't understand why this won't print although it is CLEARLY there. It shows in my forms and is filled out. I will not be able to submit my taxes without the second page of the schedule E's.  Submitting my taxes without this page is NOT possible. I will get an INSTANT call from the IRS.

You have 5 properties thus 2 versions of page 1Sch E. You state that both pages display. You should be able to save a pdf version of your return to your computer. Once the copy is saved, you can print it from your computer.

You state that you can't submit your return without this page which sounds like you are mailing the form rather than efiling it. If you can see the form, it is part of your return.

Yes, I can see the 2nd page of the schedule E, however, if I print all forms for my records it it not there. Also, if I save all forms to PDF it is not there.  Also, if I print only the second page, it prints the 1st page instead. It will not be possible to understand my taxes without the 2nd page of schedule E.  I will try to do a screenshot. However, this is NOT acceptable. This is CLEARLY a turbotax software issue. I have doing this for over 20 years and I have never had this problem. I don't know where to turn.

Page 2 may not be required, but continuation pages for additional properties clearly are required.  From the Schedule E Instructions:  "If you have more than three rental real estate or royalty properties, complete and attach as many Schedules E as you need to list them. "

Amy, your information is not correct.  Both the initial Schedule E and the continuation Schedule E are visible in the Forms section of TurboTax, but cannot be printed out.  The methods you describe require using the Print function in Turbo Tax.  Whether printing individual returns or the full compiled returns and schedules, the continuation of Schedule E does not print.  Turbo Tax identifies those continuation forms as "copy 2" which is not correct.

I have the exact same problem as the original poster.  I also have been using Turbo Tax Premier for over ten years, with multiple properties.  In every other year, Turbo Tax printed out a second Schedule E for the additional properties beyond the first three.  This is not the only error.  Line 19 information details are required to be disclosed as "Additional Information" at the end of the return.  In my case, the "Additional Information" disclosure included information from one of the properties on the first Schedule E, but not the property which had Line 19 information, and the two of the properties on the second Schedule E (the one which didn't print.

I'm having a similar issue that I've never seen before.  I have 4 Schedule E copies in my return and only 2 are ending up being included in any PDFs, even if I print all records.  This is using the Home and Business version of the product.

I have the same problem with multiple Schedule E p1 copies are viewable only and cannot be printed (or saved as PDF). I opened an inquiry and no one has responded. Today, I see 3 separate threads with people reporting this issue.  There is NO issue with printing and saving them as PDF for filing, these multiple Schedule E p1 copies are included (and must be) for filing. Otherwise, the filing is considered incomplete.

Whoever from the TurboTax support team reading this, please fix this ASAP!

Thanks!

I would like to take a deeper look at this. However, I need a diagnostic file which is a copy of your tax return that has all of your personal information removed. You can send one to us by following the directions below:

TurboTax Online:
Sign into your online account.
Locate the Tax Tools on the left-hand side of the screen.
A drop-down will appear. Select Tools
On the pop-up screen, click on “Share my file with agent.”
This will generate a message that a diagnostic file gets sanitized and transmitted to us.
Please provide the Token Number that was generated in the response.

TurboTax Desktop/Download Versions:
Open your return.
Click the Online tab in the black bar across the top of TurboTax and select “Send Tax File to Agent”
This will generate a message that a diagnostic copy will be created. Click on OK and the tax file will be sanitized and transmitted to us.
Please provide the Token Number that was generated in the response.

Amy,

I don't see a "black bar", either on the Turbo Tax software or the individual data file.  Also, nowhere do I see an "Online" tab or a  "Send File to Agent" tab or button.  There is something which allows me to generate an ".scd" file to my hard drive, but no place to send it.

Perhaps I'm missing something.  If you call me we can do a screen share so that you can see what I see.

For my (id US70293) TurboTax H&B edition, the "Send File to Agent" is under "Online". My token is 1178162.

I have downloaded the latest update today, the problem is still there, i.e. only the first Schedule E p1 can be printed. If you have more than 3 properties, the additional Schedule  E p1 pages cannot be saved as PDF for printing or filing. The previous years' editions do not have this problem.

I just got a reply from TurboTax that makes absolutely no sense.  Even if there has been a change to federal rules (which I doubt), I need to be able to print these forms for my records and to submit on state returns.  As is, there is absolutely no way for me to print these additional Schedule E forms.

Thank you for contacting TurboTax Support.

Here is the information we discussed during our call:

We reached out to our licensed Tax Advisors and they stated " there is a new rule for filing schedule Es where they don't need to send in the forms for properties that have already been reported in prior years.  Confirmed not a defect. It will only show the newest properties. "

I suggest everyone experiencing this needs to call TurboTax and escalate this.

Turbo Tax:

Your "licensed tax advisor" purported statement that "there is a new rule for filing schedule Es where they don't need to send in the forms for properties that have already been reported in prior years.  Confirmed not a defect. It will only show the newest properties. "  THIS IS APPALLINGLY INCORRECT.  Please provide an appropriate citation to relevant statute, caselaw, regulations, or Form instructions.

The 2023 instructions to Form Schedule E clearly state, "If you have more than three rental real estate or royalty properties, complete and attach as many Schedules E as you need to list them. But fill in lines 23a through 26 on only one Schedule E.

The failure to print the additional Schedules E is not your only software defect involving Schedule E.  Items listed on line 19 of Schedule E are also required to be listed on a separate page at the end of the return for "Additional Information".  On my return, your software scrambled this information.  Your software picked up one property from the first Schedule E (not the one with Line 19 information), and two properties from the second Schedule E, but only included numerical data from the one property on the first Schedule E which had Line 19 data, which was not one of the three properties listed.  It left out the numerical data from the two properties on the second Schedule E which had line 19 information.  Perhaps your mythical "licensed tax advisor" told your software developers to do this as well?

Agree with you on this. The reply from TurboTax Support does not make any sense. They didn't even bother to test this out themselves or look at the sanitized files submitted. The new property on the additional Schedule E is not viewable, printable, or saved as a PDF.

All worksheets and forms should be printable or saved as PDF files for record-keeping purposes.

TurboTax Support should escalate this to its engineering support team.

To  LGCPhoto and other frustrated TT users:

Agreed.

BTW, to resolve this, I downloaded a Schedule E Form from the IRS, and manually typed in the information for the missing Schedule E.  (The information is in the "Forms" tab -- it just isn't printing out.)  I also had to re-type the "Additional Information" page at the end of the return.  The information from Schedule E, Line 19, required to be disclosed on the "Additional Information" page, was missing for two properties and the list of properties was scrambled.

It helps to compare your 2022 return with your 2023 return to identify what's missing.

Researching further into this issue, it was discovered that it was already being addressed and fixed.  However, the TurboTax update that contains the correction has not been released as of today.  Please check again tomorrow and be sure that your TurboTax software is updated to the current version by going to Online > Check for Updates at the top of the screen.

Be aware that according to the team in charge of correcting the situation, this was a printing issue only.  The calculations and electronic filing of your return would not be affected.
