I filled 1099 NEC, my federal taxes were double than last year even tho the income was half of what it was,
Plus, it keeps making me complete Schedule C, This is not my business, I worked occasionally, have no information about the business and again It's not mine!!!
Also, my tax summary shows that my self employed tax should be $96, and yet at the top it shows I owe $339
This was so much easier last year. There must be a glitch in your system.
It depends. Form 1099-NEC indicates self employment income, receiving income for services you perform as an independent person or contractor and not an employee. The business name is your name and your address. The income would be subject to personal income tax and self employment tax (social security and medicare taxes). If you have any ordinary, necessary and reasonable expenses for your type of business you can also enter expenses that allowed you to earn the income.
