My exhusband's name, DOB and SSN is auto populating in my state return. When asked to review I delete the information and then it says it needs review again and it's back

I can't find where to even remove him anywhere. Has anyone had this happen that can help??

Getting rid of a "Ex-spouse " from that file is difficult.....it is usually strongly recommended that ex-spouse's both start entirely new tax accounts.   Making sure to download the old PDF files from all the prior years of tax returns first...in case you lose access to that older account.

You can certainly "try" to eliminate him...first get inside the 2020 tax file, then go over to the tools menu, and find the "Clear and Start Over" selection  ( YES..start over )....but when you do so, you must make sure you make an additional selection to NOT not transfer in any of the data from last year's tax return.  That "might" eliminate him from the 2020 file.  No promises.

If you've gone to far along in the Federal section (registered, or filed Federal, or paid for 2020 )...you may not be allowed to clear and start over.

If your ex was listed/entered first on the 2019 tax return, then you can't just delete it and make you the first one listed. You have no choice but to start a new return (by creating a new account if using the online version) and starting over from scratch with your new filing status (single or MFS) with your 2020 tax return.

If using the CD version, then you can't import from the .tax2019 file either. Otherwise, all data entered for the first tax payer entered on the 2019 return, will be "tied to" the first tax payer on the 2020 tax return - and that would be you.
