I have followed the FAQ carefully and am trying to use these Forms online for the first time. I have been getting the same "something went wrong" error each time that I try to create a new business. I am already a TurboTax user but haven't started my personal return for this year yet. Does that matter and can I use my same user login for Quick Employer Forms?
Yes, you will need to log into your account to use this.
You can go to this link, Quick Employer Forms, and use your TurboTax Account to log in and e-file from there.

When I print individual forms, I get both 1099 and 1096 or W-2 and w-3 for employee or subcontractor
You should get a 1096 that summarizes all of your 1099 entries and a W-3 which summarizes all of your W-2 entries. The 1099s and W-2s should be mailed to the employees/contractors and the 1096 and W-3 get e-filed to the IRS.
Why do none of the comments to this question address the actual issue?
The error happens after logging in as well. When creating a new business you just get the 4 dots rotating forever. When you click on My businesses, you get "Something went wrong". I've cleared cookies, started new browser sessions on multiple browsers. This is a major issue with only 3 days left to send out 1099s.
Are you using a PC or Apple computer? I've tried both & am getting the same thing you are. Will someone from Intuit Please fix this so we can move on with our lives.
This. Exactly this! Log into QEF and simply get a "Something Went Wrong" error message pop up with absolutely no indication what went wrong. Prior year forms absent from QEF profile. Because time is of the essence, I go to start from scratch by entering a New Business. I go through all of the steps to add the new business and the solution sits there spinning with no end. I have two support cases in to Intuit with less than 4 days before these forms have to go out. Have zero confidence that Intuit will solve this. Intuit has clearly taken the "meh" approach to 2024. I suppose it is there passive attempt to firing customers.
This problem is not solved. I get this error as well when using online, and I've tried all the basic sltuons (e.g., clearing cache and cookies, rebooting)
I was able to resolve this situation by first logging into TurboTax (online) with my existing account, selecting a product there for filing 2024 taxes, and then returning to the QEF site and logging in with the same user credentials. The 1099 forms creation and efiling then started to work as expected from QEF. Hope that helps.
Thank you for your response. I resolved it by going to Tax1099.com instead.
Congrats to you my friend! This does not work when accessing QEF from ProSeries Tax. I am not thrilled about it, but I suppose I could live with the fact that the 2023 data is not present after logging into QEF, but for the solution to not function by not allowing users to start from scratch and create a New Business is unforgivable, especially on 01/28/2025...
I suspect this is what many of us will be left doing. However, some users paid for the ability to use QEF, which is a double whammy. What are the chances that Intuit indemnifies those that paid for QEF, but had to find alternatives, none of which are truly free.
That did not work for me. After logging on to Turbotax online and selecting a business, going to QEF gives the error "Something went wrong". Adding a new business gives the rotating dots forever. Guessing it's a browser update issue Intuit failed to correct. Worst possible time.
It's 01/28 and I am still having this issue. If I try and add the business from 2023, there is nothing there. When I try and create the new business, the 4 dots spin forever. If you navigate away, you get the "something went wrong" error message. I have tried on Microsoft Edge, Firefox, incognito, and regular mode. I still can not do anything within Quick Employer Forms, and I am running out of time.
Having the same issue. I've tried to call Customer Support twice and the call is ended as soon as I am placed on hold.
I solved this problem on my own after being on the phone for hours with Lacerte technical support, after being hung up on, and having them tell me to reboot my computer in safe mode, I went to Tax1099.com and paid $6 per each 1099 processed less than 100. We are now planning to review our use of all intuit tax software, because they really left us hanging on this one.
