It says "Information Worksheet: Business Tax I.D. Number must be entered," but I am a sole proprietor and I still input my EIN. Why is this requiring a 12 digit Business Tax I.D. Number before I can E-file?
If you are a sole proprietor, you do not need a separate EIN for your business. Try entering your SSN in the field.
Yes, I tried entering my social security number and I also tried entering the EIN, however it still would not accept it. It also said that if my number is not 12 digits that I should leave it blank, but when I leave it blank it asks me to fill it in. So, another post with a similar question pertaining to Hawaii (where I am located) explained that they updated something in 2017 which requires me to apply for another number, and that's the number I need to submit. For future reference, follow this link and path to apply for said number:

That is correct any business conducting business in HI must have a General Excise Tax license.
