improper entry on self employed business form

Turbotax insists on making an entry on the self employed business form in spite of the fact that I have no business and make no entries on the business section of income section. I can't pass the final check because it says there is an error on it.  This form shouldn't even be part of my tax package.

If you had self-employment income from a 1099-MISC in the prior year, it would have been carried over to this year's return as a 1099-NEC. For 2020, nonemployee compensation on the prior year Form 1099-MISC is now reported on Form 1099-NEC. You can delete this from your return. If you did not have a 1099-MISC in the previous year, then please also delete the Schedule C from your return.

  1. Open your return in TurboTax.
  2. Search for Schedule C with the magnifying glass tool on the top of the page.
  3. Select the Jump to Schedule C link in the search results.
  4. If you get to a self-employment summary screen, delete the self-employment income line with the trash can icon.
  5. If you get to the question Did you have any self-employment income or expenses? answer No
  6. Search for 1099-NEC with the magnifying glass tool at the top of the page.
  7. Click on the Jump to 1099-NEC link at the top of the search results.
  8. Delete any 1099-NEC's entries with the trash can icon.

In addition, please make sure to delete any Schedule C/ Schedule SE on your return.

  1. Click on Tools.
  2. Click on Delete a Form
  3. Scroll down to your forms and look for forms you need to remove (Schedule C/Schedule SE) and click Delete
