I thought the stimulus check wouldn’t affect my return I said yes to the stimulus information and it dropped my federal tax return

The only reason your "refund" dropped when you indicate that you received stimulus payment(s) is because the refund amount prior to that included the Recovery Rebate Credit.  But since you already received the stimulus, you aren't eligible for the credit, so the program deducted it from the amount of refund showing.
