I did not get the $1950 deduction for 65 or older. Does anybody have information on this? Thanks STANDARD DEDUCTION AMOUNTS (65 or older/legally blind + $1950)

When reviewing my return, it wants a number in order to get it but I have no clue where that is.

The standard deduction makes some of your income “tax free.”  It is not a refund.  You will see your standard or itemized deduction amount on line 12 of your 2024 Form 1040.

2024 STANDARD DEDUCTION AMOUNTS

SINGLE $14,600    (65 or older/legally blind + $1950)

MARRIED FILING SEPARATELY            $14,600    (65 or older/legally blind + $1550)

MARRIED FILING JOINTLY $29,200    (65 or older/legally blind + $1550)

HEAD OF HOUSEHOLD $21,900    (65 or older/legally blind + $1950)

What number is it asking for?  You don't enter the Standard Deduction or the $1,950 anywhere.  It is automatically entered on your tax return unless  you are taking Itemized deductions.    If you are not getting the extra 1,950 for 65+ then go back and check your birthdates under My Info or Personal Info.

The Standard Deduction is on 1040 line 12.  Before filing you can preview the 1040 or print the whole return. You have to pay any fees first before you can see all the forms, etc.

Thank you for answering so quickly. I’ll have to double check but I don’t think it was added.
