Please follow the steps below:

  • Log into your TurboTax return
  • Click on Federal
  • Click on Income & Expenses
  • Click on the Edit/Add button beside your Self-employment income and expenses
  • Click the Edit button beside "Your business name"
  • Scroll to Expenses and click on the trash can icon beside Inventory (See the screenshot below)

You will be taken to "Do you have inventory to report?". Yes is already highlighted, click continue.  Continue through the screens deleting any amounts that are entered.  (Don't enter zeros, just delete all of the numbers).

When you get back to the Self-Employment summary page, Inventory will no longer be reflected in Expenses.

I do not find a trash can to delete inventory.  I keep marking no but it does not delete the amount nor give me an option to delete the amount it has calculated

Are you using the CD/Download version of TurboTax @Jilliannh? If you are, you will not be able to clear your inventory entries by clicking No.

Here's what to do:

  1. Tap Forms in the top right corner
  2. Find Schedule C Wks in the left column and tap so it opens in the right screen
  3. Find Cost of Goods Sold and delete any numbers
