I had the issuer send me (I am a sole proprietor) a corrected 1099-NEC. TurboTax used to ask on the interface if the 1099 was corrected, if my memory is correct. However, that option no longer seems to exist. Does anyone know how to note that I am listing a corrected 1099? Please note, I received the corrected form BEFORE filing my return with the IRS or state.
Thank you!
There is not a way to indicate that you are entering a corrected Form 1099-NEC. Since TurboTax does not have an input for that information, do not worry about trying to convey that to the IRS.
Often business income is reported in many forms -- from Form 1099-NEC, Form 1099-K, or even cash reporting. There is no way for the IRS to know with certainty that what you are reporting is accurate, so their system can only check that the amounts that have been reported to them on official tax forms are at least the minimum that you have reported on your return. The entries you make in TurboTax for Form 1099-NEC are not transmitted as part of your return.
