How do you make a direct entry on Form 1040, Schedule 1, line 8k?

If you are using online software you do not have direct access to the forms.    Forms mode is a feature of desktop software.

okay, thanks.  Then if I can't enter it directly on the form, then how do I get an amount to flow to Schedule 1, line 8k?

To get the income to report on Schedule 1, Line 8k follow these steps:

After you have entered all other income, enter the section for Miscellaneous Income.

1. Select Other Income not already reported on a W-2 or 1099
2. Select Other Reportable Income
3. Answer Yes to Did you receive any other taxable income?
4. Provide a description (that makes sense to you) in the description box, and an amount in the amount box. 

This will transfer the income to Schedule 1, Line 8z.
