HOW do you fix errors on form? mine is too many characters for initial field? I have "A." and I cannot file!!!!!

I am trying to file my return using Turbo Tax Self Employed.  In all places on the forms, my middle initial is "A."  On some of the forms I have an error message that there are too many characters in the middle initial field.  When I go into the form, I see it highlighted in yellow but I cannot fix it.  My delete button does not work.  Please help-

You need to delete the period from your initial. The IRS doesn't like unnecessary (from their point of view) punctuation.    It's most likely flowing to the forms from your Personal Info page.  To correct your Personal Information, take the following steps:

  • In your Federal return, choose the left tab topic My Info
  • On the page Personal info summary, scroll down to your name
  • Click the blue Edit link to the right of your name
  • Delete the period from your initial.
