I think I found it. You can go to Federal (Personal for H&B) Then Wages & Income and click on Import Summary at the top. Then click on Add Other Documents, then on the next page at the bottom click blue Manage Import Options.
While that method used to work in prior years to stop the prompt, this year the choices made there had no effect (at least for me and some others.) Even after indicating "no" to all of the list in import options, all 1099's still kept asking to import. I think the manage option was broken when TurboTax developers changed the interface where 1099DIV/INT and investments are entered and probably didn't link it to the "manage import options".
2024 Turbo Tax was developed with AI (Artificial Intelligence). The product was half-baked and put on the market to garner revenue. The "turn off" option is not available. One has to enter manually and respond to the question of "iport", over and over and .....
It was fine until this year. Then they major changed the way to enter interest, dividends and investments. Every one is complaining. Have you used Turbo Tax before?
I don't like how to enter Interest, Dividends, Sales etc. Too many clicks and screens to click on and go through. There is no table on the screen (except in Forms) and you have to click though several screens to add more. And after I manually entered 3 interest it didn't ask if I wanted it to stop asking to import. Oh and Interest, Dividends and Sales are listed in the same list on the screen alphabetically. If I go to Interest I only want to see Interest!
You can switch to Forms Mode and enter them directly into Schedule B using the Interest Income Smart Worksheet. But then they won't show up in the Step-by-Step list.
Thank you. Turbo Tax 2024 is not user-friendly at all, partly because it was developed with Artificial Intelligence (AI), did not go through "human brains", no QC was performed. Worse than previous years.
