You may revisit Schedule E entries by doing the following:

From within your return, click My Account from the top right > Tools > Topic Search Schedule C

However, Forms Mode is not available in the Online version of TurboTax, which is the only feature that allows a user to make direct manual changes.

If you need help navigating to a specific topic, please comment back for assistance.

During my final review I had to fix an error on Schedule E regarding the "Total Amount of Land Included in the Cost", but I entered the wrong amount. How can I go back and enter the correct amount now?

Here is where you will edit the information. Go to:

  1. Federal
  2. Select income and Expenses
  3. Scroll down to Rental Properties and Royalties
  4. Select Start next to Rental Properties and Royalties (Schedule E
  5. edit the rental summary of the property
  6. now you should see a screen that says Review your XXX Rental Summary
  7. Select Sale of Property/ Depreciation revisit.  Here is where you will edit the information regarding your land cost.

I have clicked through every screen in that section but there is no option to change the cost of land :(

Did you go to the Sale of Property/ Depreciation section that i mentioned?  go through and edit the section. As you scroll through the questions, do you see an entry that says Tell Us About This Rental Asset. In that section is where you would enter the cost of land. if you still have difficulty finding that, you may want to contact a specialist that can work through that section of the return with you so you can change your answer.

No - I did not sell the property so I suppose that is why I did not see that screen? I'm not even sure why it showed up as an error to begin with as it has never been an issue in years past. I'll contact a specialist....thanks.

Actually you should see this screen when you enter information on your rental property. You would still go through the assets/depreciation section because Turbo Tax needs to know how much to depreciate each year. if you program asks you if you wish to go to your rental summary, say yes. Edit your property until you get t o a screen that says Tell us about this rental asset. Here you will enter cost and cost of the land.  Try that before contacting the specialist.

Thanks for sticking with me Dave. I decided to just delete the Property Asset that was carried over from last year and create a new one, which then presented me with the Rental Asset screen and the ability to enter the Cost of Land. So I believe I am now all set and hopefully when I run the final review I am error free! Have a great night!

I cannot file my return due to an entry on Schedule E needing review.   I cannot get in to the document to change what it is asking me to do.

Click on Add a State to let you back into your return.

This is assinine. I can't manually change an "error" either and now can't file electronically because the software won't let me with an error.

You can fill this form out for someone to call you. They can look at your program with you.

Can you clarify why you need to change your Schedule E?  You can update everything that needs to be changed in the Step-by-Step process in the desktop versions and will have to utilize the interview process in the online versions.
