How do I file form 1041 for qualified disability trust

My question was not answered. I bought the business turbo tax in order to file the 1041 for a qualified disability trust. No money was taken out of this trust in 2016 but I still need to file. The only options that turbo tax gave me was a simple or complex trust. Very confused and paid $150 for this program. Please help. Thanks

After you enter the basic information about the trust, go to  the Federal Taxes tab.

  • Choose Other.
  • Under Other Return Info, on Type of Trust, choose Update.
  • On the screen We've Chosen a Trust Type for You, check This is a different type of trust.
  • On the drop-down, choose Qualified Disability Trust. See the screenshot.

Isabella,

I followed your directions but on Form 1041 only Qualified disability trust box is checked.  My trust is also a complex trust.  The directions say "Check all that apply."

How can I get both boxes to check?  It seems the software only allows one to be checked.

Any insight?
