If you have verified that you do not qualify for the Child Tax Credit or the Other Dependent Credit then please follow these steps:

  1. In the left menu, select "Tax Tools" and then "Tools".
  2. In the pop-up window Tool Center, select "Delete a form".
  3. Select "Delete" next to Form 8812 in the list and follow the instructions

I don't find the places mentioned to click.  My toolbar has File Edit View Tools Online Help, nowhere do I find TaxTools

You have a different menu because you are using Desktop, from a disc or download.

To delete a form in Desktop:

  1. Click the white Forms icon toward the upper right corner.
  2. Find the form you want to delete on the list on the left.
  3. Highlight it, then click Delete in the lower left corner of the reading pane.
  4. Click on Step by Step in the upper right corner to return to the interview.

Using the desktop home and business turbo tax app on a macintosh.  I have no dependents and want to remove legacy schedule 8812, form 8814, but I  can not find a way to delete forms in this version.

finally figured it out.

  1) while viewing the form

  2) Select the menu item "FORMS"

  3) There is a "remove schedule 8812" selection item

That removed it.

so I have tried all the above, I am using a desktop, I have opened 'forms' view and deleted the 8812 form repeatedly, as well as the K1's. but it still says that I have errors, and up pops the forms. this is getting frustrating.

Every person filing a tax return for 2021 is required to complete this form whether they have a dependent or not.

This is to confirm that you did not receive any Advance Child Tax Credit and you do not have to delete the schedule 8812.

  • In the Federal section of your return, go to Deductions & Credits
  • Scroll down to You and Your Family and click Revisit/Start next to Advance payments, Child and Other Dependent Tax Credits
  • Click Continue
  • Answer Let's start with where you spent the most time in 2021.
  • Answer No to Did you receive any advance Child Tax Credit payments in 2021?

K1

  • Goto Wages & Income
  • Scroll down to Business Items and K1
  • Click on update
  • Answer No to Did you receive any Schedule K1

I do not want to eliminate the 8812. I would like to get someone to look at my 8812 and see if it is correct.  I received a letter CP12 form the IRS and it said that my calculations were wrong.  That is not the case.  I need someone to verify that for me.  I have MAX Defend and Restore.  I would like for someone to tell me how to respond to this letter.
