How do I delete Ohio RITA form 37 such that I can complete my taxes without "filing by mail?"

I cannot delete form 37 (pp 1+2), the Ohio RITA forms in such a way that Turbotax stops asking me to correct form 37 information.

TurboTax is NOT permitting me to file electronically; the only option is to file by mail.

When I delete form 37 (pp 1+2), I continue with my taxes and form 37 is immediately re-attached to my state tax filing, preventing me from filing.

As per the subject- how do I delete Ohio RITA form 37 such that I can complete my Ohio state filing? I've already filed my RITA return directly with them.

*** Amended: Filling in information into Form 37 eventually allowed me to submit electronically to state and federal. RITA is not a candidate for e-file so (allegedly) won't be bothered by a repeated filing as Turbotax won't send it.

Here's how to delete your RITA return:

  1. In the Ohio section go to the screen "A few things before we wrap up your state taxes"
  2. Tap Revisit Ohio city taxes
  3. On "Do you want to file your city income taxes?" RITA should be check, tap Continue
  4. On "RITA Municipal Income Tax" tap Done with Rita
  5. On "Would you like to delete your RITA return?" tap YES

This was never an option. On filing state and completing it, form 37 immediately popped up and demanded input.

Was on the phone with Tech Support and we weren't able to avoid filling out (even bogus) entries to the form 37.

You can try to delete the Ohio Form 37.

First try to delete the record by selecting the Trash Can on the right side of the record.  If this doesn't work, or it's not available you can follow these steps.

  1. On the menu bar on the left that shows.
    1. My Info
    2. Federal
    3. State
    4. Review
    5. File
  2. Select Tax Tools
  3. On the drop-down select Tools
  4. On the Pop-Up menu select Delete a Form
  5. This will give you all of the forms in your return.
  6. Scroll down to the form you want to delete.
  7. Select the "Ohio Form 37".
  8. Click on Delete.
  9. Always use extreme caution when deleting information from your tax return.  There could be unintended consequences.
