We use a payroll company to pay our household employee (nanny) and the payroll company has done withholding and made quarterly payments of both our and our nanny's share of FUTA and social security etc. Now they have provided us with a schedule H, but I am unsure how to claim the dollars already paid through the quarterly submissions on our personal taxes (against the value on the schedule H).
You report the taxes paid as estimated taxes in the Estimates and Other Taxes Paid section, under Deductions and Credits, in the Federal area of TurboTax.
Are you saying just put it under Estimated Tax Payments ? How IRS going to determine if it's for Household Employee ?
Your estimated tax payments can be for multiple purposes. The FUTA reported on Schedule H can be tracked to the total tax you paid, and is included in the total tax due on your personal tax return. As long as you have paid in at least as much tax as the total due on your return, you have satisfied the IRS.
