What is entered as your occupation has no effect on your tax return.  You can correct the error by shortening the description of your occupation to fit the space.

I started trading stock. In the occupation field should I put stock trader or trader?

It really doesn't matter what you put in the field.  Either "Stock Trader" or "Trader" would be fine.

I shortened the name on my Federal and re-filed the State- and I keep getting this same error. The TT system just keeps rerunning Smart Check but wont let me fix it. I am paying to efike not mail it.
