Not all states have adopted the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) that Congress signed into law on December 22, 2017, so:

  • Some states allow you to itemize your deductions
  • Since this deduction is suspended, TurboTax will keep these deduction entry screens intact until the suspension is lifted in 2025.
  • When you enter the information, it then gets transferred to the state return, provided it is a deduction on the state return.

Note: Unreimbursed employee expenses deduction has been suspended in tax years 2018 through 2025.

Hi! So you aren't self employed, but do you have expenses that you've paid out of pocket for your job? Eg. Are you a teacher who had to pay for supplies(tissues, sanitizer,Clorox wipes etc)?
