Free version for self employed?

I used Free version last year & had schedule C, etc. for deductions. Can't find them this year in the free version. Has this changed?

You probably used the Free File Program and not the Free online edition.

Use the TurboTax Free File program if you are eligible - https://freefile.intuit.com/
If you are eligible you can use the TurboTax Free File Program which is free to file both a federal and state tax return. The Free File Program edition is a full featured personal tax program and on a separate website from the TurboTax online editions.

To qualify for free 2019 federal and state tax returns with the Free File Program, you'll need to meet at least one of these requirements:

  • A maximum 2019 adjusted gross income (AGI) of $36,000; or
  • You qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC); or
  • You served as active duty military (including Reservists and National Guard) with a maximum 2019 AGI of $69,000 (you'll also need a military-issued W-2).

Thanks, DoninGA!

I thought that's what I had done. I signed in via your link, but it took me back to the one I was working with. Does that mean I should delete & start over?

Also, The one I used this year was from an email link from Turbo Tax Free Fie Program, which takes me to the same one you sent - freefile.intuit.com

Now I'm confused.

You have to sign off the tax return you started in the Free online edition before you can access the Free File Program.  Click on Sign Out at the bottom left of the online program screen when you are on the Free online edition.

Should I then create a new acct.? It may try to log me in to the same one again. How will I tell that I'm on the right one?

The edition you are using will be shown in the upper left corner of the screen when you are accessing the 2019 tax return software.  It is shown right under the TurboTax logo.  For the Free File Program it will show IRS Free File Program delivered by TurboTax

You should not have to create a new account but if your sign on continues to take you to the Free edition then create a new account on the Free File Program.

Well I signed back in & it takes me back again to the wrong one. Under logo it says Tax Home. Guess I'm starting over!

Thanks for your help!

As it turned out, I WAS on the right program all along. The schedule C, etc. is hidden under tools, then you have to search it! Why it isn't more easily available & right in the Q & A of the program is baffling. Wasted a lot of time for nothing!
