Do I need to file schedule 8812 if I file schedule 8862?

I am eligible for the child tax credit but was told by I did not need an 8812 if I filed the 8862, then was told by a different IRS rep that I needed both schedules.

Filing a Form 8862 does not determine whether or not you need to file Schedule 8812.  You will need to file Form 8862 with your Tax Return if the IRS has disallowed you from taking the Earned Income Credit (EIC) in a prior year.

TurboTax will determine if you need to file Schedule 8812 with your return based on your input.  It may be needed if you are claiming a child who has an ITIN or if you are eligible to claim the Additional Child Tax Credit.
