Distribution from Roth TSP in 2022 1040 being handled a regular income by TurboTax Premierfor 2022

I used TurboTax Premier to calculate and submit my 1040 for 2022.  I received a letter from the IRS I had seveal errors on my 2022 return input and that I owe $.  One of the errors relates to a distribution from a Roth TSP account that I held and contributed to for 9 years until I retired (again) in 2022.  The 1099R from TSP shows the distribution ($8171.48) taxable amount of $0.00 in block 2a of the 1099R yet TurboTax 2022 adds the distribution to my Adjusted Income?

Hi, trh61054,

First, sorry you got a tax notice, I know that can be scary!  I want to make sure you are aware that TurboTax has your back, both with its 100% Accurate Calculation Guarantee and with the Audit Support Center.

As to specific questions about your 2022 tax return, it is hard for us to answer without looking at your specific underlying forms. No worry, though, just reach out to us using the contact information in this article and we can help you with next steps.

Hope this helps.

Karen, thank you for your response.  I have some specific questions about my data.  Can your help on a more private messaging format?
