Turbotax Online: I have received a 1099-B with only Box 8 and 11 information. I follow the instructions from the forums:
1. Go to "Less Common Investments and Savings"
2. Answer "YES" to "Any Straddles or Section 1256 Contracts?"
3. Next screen asks for "Any Elections?" and I don't check any since I don't have any of those elections, and I click "Continue"
4. Next screen is "Check any of the following that apply", and I check "None of the above", and I click "Continue"
After clicking "Continue" in Step 4 above, I am led back to the main menu, and it never lets me input the Box 8 info! This behavior has changed from prior years, as I could easily input my section 1256 Box 8 info quite easily in prior years. Can you please advise?
4. Next screen is "Check any of the following that apply", and I check "None of the above", and I click "Continue
that's the oops - wrong box - you must check Section 1256 contracts marked to market
then continue
next page asks "How do you want to enter your transactions"
choose Report totals from each broker or account
continue
you should now see the Section 1256 contracts page where you enter all the info
