Commuting miles-1 is too large. Commuting miles plus business miles (42800) cannot exceed total miles?? Dont understand how to fix this it keeps coming up.

Go back and check your numbers.

When the interview asks you how many total miles you drove the car, enter the amount.

Then it asks for business miles, enter those.

Then it asks how many commuting miles, enter the amount. Miles to and from your regular place of business which are not deductible.

Then it asks for personal miles, enter those (also not deductible)

The total of commuting miles, personal miles and business miles cannot exceed the total miles.

Use annual numbers.

Total Miles = Business Miles + Commuting Miles + Personal Miles

Example: 10,000= 5000 (business)+1000(commuting) +4,000 (personal) = 10,000

CANNOT be 10,000= 5000 +5000+5000 because total is more than all the miles you entered under total.
