Check your entry: NJ SDI is greater than $0 possible fix

This can be fixed in the W-2 wages section of the program.

  1. Select Federal on the left panel
  2. Select "Wages & Income"
  3. Select Edit next to "Job (W-2)"
  4. Select Edit next to the applicable W-2 form where you had the excess SDI claimed.
  5. Scroll down to Box 14.  This is where you will enter the amount of the taxes withheld, as well as the "Category".  Make sure you select the category to ensure the correct tax is being reported and claimed.  MAKE SURE EVERYTHING MATCHES EXACTLY AS IT IS ON YOUR W2.  If no category is listed, please select other (not classified).  Continue through the process and this should resolve the issue.

There is no SDI tax in New Jersey for 2023. If you worked in New Jersey, your employer should not have withheld any SDI, and there should not be any SDI in box 14 of your W-2. If your 2023 W-2 for New Jersey shows an amount (other than zero) for SDI, it's an error by the employer. The employer should correct the W-2 and refund the improperly withheld amount to you.
