Can I e-file an amended 1120-S yet?

It seems TT is sending me in circles when I choose "Amend a Return." Tells me to save the return with a different name and then amend it by filling in the new numbers in the right fields. No problem. But then when I go to e-file, despite going through the Federal Review, it says there is no return selected to file -- yet there is no place to select a file.

I followed all the steps. Why can't I e-file the amended return? I filed the original in early March, so my particular return's e-file date should not be a factor.

Thanks in advance.

You can't e-file an amended return with TT Business if you e-filed the original return with the product.

Well then this isn't correct.

Someone please advise if we are awaiting an update to fix this issue.

You are right; it is not correct in terms of e-filing an amended return after e-filing an original return.

TurboTax -- this is a HUGE issue. I've paid for software that does not work as advertised. I should be able to file an amended return but cannot.

I've spoken to TT several times, used chat, etc., and just keep getting pushed around. PLEASE give attention to this issue and create a patch or update to fix it in TurboTax Business Desktop for 2024. I'm using the Windows version.

That's not entirely accurate. You CAN file an amended return with TurboTax Business. You cannot E-FILE an amended return after you have e-filed the original return.

The odds of Intuit  "fixing this" for 2024 are nil and it probably isn't even likely that they'll fix it for 2025. If you need to file an amended return with TurboTax Business after e-filing an original return, you'll just have to print and mail it.

Yes, I agree that they will likely not fix this issue.

In the instructions, they do say you can "e-file or print your return." So that is still inaccurate.

Does it state that you can "e-file or print your amended return"? If not, then it appears to be referring to your original return, which is accurate (somewhat misleading, perhaps, but still accurate for original returns).

I did link to the instructions early on. Here it is again.

I copied and pasted the below section and made what I quoted earlier in red.

==================

You must use the edition of TurboTax Desktop for the year you're amending. For example, you must amend your 2024 return in TurboTax Desktop Business 2024.

Amend a return for an S corporation
  1. Open TurboTax.
  2. On the Work on a Tax Return screen, select Amend a Return.
  3. Select the return you want to amend.
  4. On the Filing an Amended Return screen, select Yes.
  5. Continue through your amended return, making any changes as needed.
  6. When you reach the File tab, continue through the steps

to e-file or print your return

    .
  7. Save the amended return for your records with a different name than your original return.

I see that now and, YES, that FAQ sorely needs to be rewritten.
