Business Income and Expenses ' Needs Review'?

Turbotax Home and Business 2024.

Business Income and Expenses>

Profit and Loss from Business 2024........

'Needs Review.'

>

Click on Business... Edit>

Everything pertaining to business income, cog, expenses, etc.........

Nothing is marked 'Needs Review.'

Why is it still needing review when there is nothing highlighted?

Just updated the forms. Still says, 'Needs review.'

Thanks for your help.

Go ahead and scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on Continue.   The Needs Review message will NOT prevent e-file.   Before you file the return(s), TurboTax will take you through a Complete Check and will flag any errors that will prevent e-filing then.   You can continuing preparing your returns and ignore the needs review messages.   If there are any errors on the return, the Complete Check in the final review section will prompt you to make changes before submitting the return(s).

Thanks for the reply.

I have quadruple checked everything and continued through smart check.

Everything is correct to  either e-file or print file.

However, when I check the business section I see the 'needs review' highlighted.

I would like to see this updated. I can't figure out what the hang up is. When I go into all the other business sections, profit and loss, there is nothing highlighted 'needs review.'

Is there a checkmark I'm not seeing or a field that needs to entered as $0?

Very concerning.

Thanks

Same thing with me. Everything is correct and ready to efile but NEEDS REVIEW wont go away. .

I'm afraid if I efile though with a NEEDS REVIEW present then next year things won't be transferred over correctly!

TT needs to fix this, it's their bug.

Seeing the same issue. (Desktop Home & Business)

"Needs review" appears in the Business Income and Expenses interview.

I've gone through every entry... Not seeing where the problem is.

UPDATE: On Business Income and Expenses OTHER BUSINESS CREDITS... GENERAL BUSINESS CREDITS (Form 3800)  I'm seeing "This section will be ready February 8" (unavailable while we work on updates for recent tax law changes. It's OK to skip this for now and work on other parts of your return.)

This problem has plagued me all day.  I’ve been on support calls off and on all day as well to try resolve   After several support reps and escalation a case has been filed with software tech to look into it.  I suspect that it is due to an unchecked field that is caused by the software not retaining a selection although I’ve tried to narrow it down without resolving it.  The final check should catch it but it isn’t and the forms seem to be ok.  I’ve used this software for over a decade and never had this kind of problem.  I even reinstalled and reinput all my data, to no avail.  Because I’m seeing others with the same problem I’m pretty sure it’s not operator error.  If I find out there’s a fix I’ll post it here.

Thank you for all your efforts. I deleted and reinstalled everything as well. Still shows the same problem, 'Needs Review.' However, all the forms and smart check says it is ok.  This is troublesome and gives me pause to trust the program. No one has figured out why? I have used Turbo Tax 15 years. I have always been confident with it's calculations.  If this proves to be a continuing problem, I will have to change my software. I have order H&R B. to compare my figures to be sure all is ok before submitting.

Let us know if you resolve it. Thank you again.

Posted about this a couple weeks ago and am still not able to fix it no matter how many times I check everything.

Now I'm seeing it's affecting others as they try complete their taxes.

This is crazy, it's a Turbo Tax bug and they need to fix it.

I don't see 'other business credits'. Any way you can post the exact steps? I'll do a forms search as well.

TIA

If you are able to run the final Review with no issues, you can ignore the "Needs Review" note for entries you know are correct. TurboTax will let you know if you need to make changes when you run Review - something you can do at any time and still go back to work on your return. Just be sure you have no review errors before you choose to file your return.

I understand that, can run a final review but  It's CLEARLY a TT bug which they need to fix.

What happens next year when trying to transfer tax return over with,  if individual amounts/figures this year are showing "Needs Review"??

Have been using TT for years and it's never happened before.

Turbo Tax needs to fix this, we shouldn't have to deal with this.

TT Desktop Home & Business

Go to the [Business] tab
Click the "Business Income and Expenses" sub-head and click [CONTINUE]

You should see "How do you want to enter your business income?"
Click [Walk me through everything]
In "Less Common Business Situations" ... Business Credits... click [UPDATE]
Find "General business credits" in the list and click [UPDATE]

This is when I find the notice about the form not being ready. When you jump over to form view, you will see Form 3800, marked "DO NOT FILE."

UPDATE: Intuit is now reporting that the form will be released on 2/15.

I have the same issue.  Spent hours trying to figure out then saw this article.  When can we expect an update with a fix TT?

So is this the reason we're seeing "NEEDS REVIEW"? - the Form 3800 not being released yet?

If you are seeing a forms hold in Final Review for Form 3800, note that the Forms Availability Table show an estimated date for release of the e-file version after February 13, 2025. For printing, the date is February 20, 2025.

However, the "needs review" message may not be associated with Form 3800 if you don't claim Business Credits.

That is my case. Not claiming business credits.

So why is it still saying 'Needs Review'?

Nothing is flagged in forms. Smart check is good.

Still no TT bug fix after numerous updates.

Yep, me too. Am not claiming business credits yet I'm still seeing NEEDS REVIEW!

Smart check says everything is okay.

When will Turbo Tax fix this?

As of today, Feb 16, I am still getting the error--- Needs Review.  I am sure I have gone over all the questions.

We would like to research this experience in more detail. It would be helpful to have a TurboTax ".tax2024" file to test this issue further.

If you would be willing to send us a “diagnostic” file that has your “numbers” but not your personal information, please follow these instructions:

In TurboTax Desktop, open your return and go to Online in the TurboTax header. (On a Mac computer, choose Share or Help.)

  1. Choose Send Tax File to Agent.
  2. You will see a message explaining what the diagnostic copy is.  Click Send on this screen and wait for the Token number to appear.
  3. Reply to this thread with a screenshot of your Token number (this avoids Community filters for numbers with a dash) and tag (@) the Expert requesting the token from you.
  4. Please include any States that are part of your return - this is VERY important.

If we obtain better information, we'll reply here.

Here is the token.  The return passed the final analysis and check in turbotax, but Business income and expenses still shows 'Needs Review'. Please do keep us updated. Thanks!
