1099-NEC

I received a sign on bonus of 2500 dollars from a recruiting service when I was hired to work for a new hospital.  I received a 1099-nec but I don't know how to correctly enter this.  Do I use the self employment since it was from the recruiting firm and not my new employer.  help.

Yes, you will report it as self employment income and if you had any direct expenses for receiving it, such as car mileage, you can deduct those expenses. Strictly business expenses, not clothing or other personal expenses.

The business name will be your name and the business address will be your address. The business code can be listed as 999000, to eliminate search time.
