1099-NEC received that should have gone elsewhere

Hi there,

I am in a bit of a jam. I just got 3 separate 1099-NEC forms that should have gone to a company that is now closed or in the process of closing. I didn't do any type of work for any of the contractors, never filled out a W9 for them and I was told there is a way I can nominate these to the company they are supposed to go to. How do I accomplish this in the program I am using? I currently use Turbo Tax Home & Business.  Thank you 🙂

Yes, you can nominee this income to its proper recipient. In Home and Business, create a Schedule C and enter the income. Then, as a miscellaneous deduction, indicate to whom you wish to nominee the income.

If you're self-employed, it's likely you need to fill out an IRS Schedule C to report how much money you made or lost in your business.

We'll automatically complete Schedule C for you when you add your self-employment income in TurboTax (usually Form 1099-NEC or 1099-MISC). It gets attached to your Form 1040, which we'll also handle for you.

If you need Schedule C to report a 1099-NEC or 1099-MISC, search for 1099-NEC or 1099-misc and select the Jump to link. We'll ask questions to find out if your 1099 income needs to go on Schedule C.
