The message is very generic and the last line  is the only  relevant one as the wrong amount on line 30 is considered a "math error"   ... so check  line 30 on the form 1040 ... is that the missing amount of the refund ?  

 

Wait for the IRS letter of explanation to come in the mail.

  • They claim our income was too high for a married couple filing joint, but my wife made around $60,000.00 for 2020 and I did not work.  Zero income for me.

Yes!  Line 30 is the missing amount.

If you claimed you did not get some of the first 2 stimulus payments but the IRS disagrees then you will have to initiate a trace of the missing money.

So the amount on the notice is your new refund amount this isn't possible

You posted to an old  thread so what is your situation?   Did you file a return but the IRS sent you a notice with changes ?
