Once the fools in congress agree to something in principal the worker bees still need to implement it ... details to follow as soon as they are available ... but don't count on anything soon and be thrilled when it does show up.
The questions about “stimulus checks” began after a press conference that just happened on 3-17-2020. At this moment the Senate is still trying to come to a vote. When they finally do that, the bill has to be passed by the House of Representatives and then the President has to sign the bill into law. That is how federal laws are enacted. Until those things happen—anything you are reading or hearing is just guesses and conjecture. Please be patient until there is actual information to provide to you. We cannot tell you if you will get a check, when you will get a check or how much it will be for. No one knows yet.
There has been no information released on what the package will look like, or how it will be sent out. As of this morning, the bill passed through the House and will be looked at in the Senate this afternoon. No word on when Senate will vote on it.
@CarissaM The bill started in the Senate first; next stop is the House of Representatives; next it has to be signed into law by the President.
Since the CARES Act has just been signed into law, there are some questions that can't be answered definitively at this time. Please check for updates here TurboTax Corona Virus Update Center and here IRS Corona Virus Update Center.
