Why is my state return showing a Federal Income Tax Refund of 1,900 when I haven't had a federal refund in years? I always have to pay.

Can you please clarify your question? What state are you filing? And where on your state return is it showing a federal refund?

The Federal Refund box at the top of TurboTax will show your federal refund. Is that amount $1,900? If you did not get a third stimulus payment, the $1,400 will be added to your refund. That may be part of the reason you are getting a federal refund this year.

I figured it out. I was unemployed some in 2020. $1,900 was the amount of federal income tax withheld from that unemployment. I was reimbursed that amount by check in 2021 under the American Rescue Plan Act.
Thanks for the response, Mike.
