Why does Fed send 6 digit PIN and Turbotax only ask for 5 digits. Really? Give me a logical reason.

I am having a PIN issue this year, so I figured I ask the "experts" why in God's Name the FED would send a 6 digit PIN and Turbo tax only asks for 5 of those digits, in fact says enter ANY 5 of those digits. This is NUTs. The thing should ask for the 6 digits and have a second input window to enter it again to minimize errors.

So tell me programmers WHY?

Just found an input window that asks for each persons PIN and TAKES all 6 digits.

I am so glad that in one area of this TT spaghetti program it asks for just 5 digits yet in another area it asks for all 6.  Nice coding.

Thank you FED/State for REQUIRING e-filing and forcing the citizens to be dependent on a tax software company....great....

After reading up on this, the 5 digit PIN is a self assigned PIN that we choice ourselves.  And  you better write it down some where since TT does not apparently store it?  Or can you dig it out of last years program?????

The PI-PIN is a 6 digit number you get from the IRS each year.

The explanation windows with the PIN and the PI-PIN need some re writing to clearly explain the two.
