Why did turbo tax write "individual" after "DELAWARE" telling me that my Delaware tax had been submitted, when the Delaware tax I had submitted was for my wife and me?

It is still an "individual" return. Think of it as your "personal" return instead of individual.

Your "individual" return has a filing status of married filing jointly.

Basically, the program is just setting it apart from a business return.
