Why did my CA refund change from last year? The number transferred from 2015 differs by $23 ($1853 vs. $1830 (actual)). $23 happens to be the same # as the use tax.
The actual CA state refund was $1830 but the number transferred from the 2015 tax return by Turbotax 2016 was $1853.

That was a bug in 2015 TT/Calif Form 540 for a brief time last year. Use the $1,830 number.
