Why did I receive a paper check?

My state and federal returns were filed on the same day (end of January) and I made the election to direct deposit my refund on both to the same bank account. I received my state refund timely and by direct deposit. I just received a paper check for my federal refund yesterday, March 2nd. These were the only refunds I received and all bank information was correct on the forms. Why did I receive a paper check from the IRS?

Only the IRS can answer that.  There may have been some problem with the information you entered that caused them to mail a check instead of making a direct deposit.  Happily--you received your refund.
