Why did i receive a check from Green Dot Bank

After I sent my return i got a check from green dot bank saying "we were unable to complete a deposit of  your 24 tax refund using the designated account information." and as a result they sent the check. This seems like a scam

That should be your federal refund minus the Turbo Tax fees.   Double check your bank routing and account numbers with your bank.

If you entered wrong banking information or used a closed account for your direct deposit, then the refund would have been returned to the third party bank.   That bank would either send your refund back to the IRS or could issue a check and mail it to you at the address you used on your tax return.   Not sure how you think receiving your refund is a "scam."  Be glad you received your refund-----some users in your situation wait for months for their refunds and have a lot more aggravation than merely having to deposit or cash a check.

I got the same check from green Dot Bank. I paid TT 60 dollars. My return was supposed to be $371 and green dot only gave me $216.22

How do I get ahold of this bank and why did they take $155 dollars out of my check?

I don't owe child support, I file my taxes each year. My tax info is always simple, I only claim myself. I don't qualify for tax breaks.

I can't think of anything else why they would take half of my check

If you requested to have the TurboTax account fees deducted from your federal tax refund, the IRS will send the refund to a third party processor to have the fees and the $40 service charge deducted. The third party processor will deduct the TurboTax fees plus the $40 service charge and then attempt to direct deposit the remaining refund balance into the account that you entered on your tax return.

For the status of your tax refund you will need to contact the third party processor, Santa Barbara Tax Product Group, using their website - https://www.sbtpg.com/

Your refund could be offset.

The IRS and State Governments have the ability to offset a refund to pay for certain past due debts.  You generally will receive a letter stating what the offset was for.

The IRS provides a toll-free number, (800) 304-3107, to call for information about tax offsets.

I already paid TT $60 dollars. $371 was leftover but green dot only gave me $216.

Yup, they took $209 out of mine as well. I checked and rechecked my banking information. The letter stated "your refund, minus authorized fees..." I DID NOT authorize them to take that amount out of my refund for maybe a missed number. TT seems to have gone overboard with helping 3rd parties make money.
