I was audited for 2014 because copies of my RV mortgage interest was not received as my bank is not required to send it. I printed copies and would like to know if I need to send them and to what address? I e-filed tonight. thankyou
Your Paperwork from the Audit Information would have informed you exact details as to what is needed from the IRS, and where to send that information.. You can get further Information through the IRS.GOV website. It will give you instructions where to send that information. Hope his helps..
I'm sorry I didn't ask the right question, when I file my 2016 taxes by e-file, how to I make sure the IRS gets copies of Mortgage Interest statements for this tax year?
Yes, the IRS does receive a copy, as the 1098 where you got your information, is a tax form.. they receive copies of ALL tax related forms, such as w2s, 1099's and so on, so be assured they have a copy. Hope this helps.
Just for your info per the Bank, they are not required to send a 1098 for Motorhomes. Second per the bank they are not required to send a 1098 for Mortgage Interest that is less than $600.00. So to whom to I send my copies of these forms for this tax year to verify the deduction I have claimed. Or so I wait 2 years to get a letter auditing me for these deductions?
The IRS is where you would need to send those copies of the documents you have verifying the deductions you claimed for that year.. If your Audit paperwork does not have those instructions for mailing, then the IRS. GOV website will have more detailed information for you. Hope this helps
