If you have filed a 2019 or 2018 tax return and need to enter your direct deposit information, the portal is not yet available - https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/economic-impact-payments-what-you-need-to-know
In the coming weeks, Treasury plans to develop a web-based portal for individuals to provide their banking information to the IRS online, so that individuals can receive payments immediately as opposed to checks in the mail.
How come the news says quick books has a portal for bank account info to update the irs.?

That is Only if you have Not filed a 2019 tax return and you are not required a tax return and you are not receiving Social Security benefits - https://turbotax.intuit.com/stimulus-check/
If you’re not required to file taxes and don’t
receive Social Security benefits, use our free
Stimulus Registration for non-tax filers to
give the IRS your up-to-date mailing address
and direct deposit banking info.
The portal is not allowing a way to update or add new bank account information to my account. Just says "we have sent your info to the IRS". I don't know what info was sent.
Turbo tax registration with IRS claims that you can register 2019 return if you will not file the return due to minimum requirements. I didn't make enough money, so I won't file. I was hoping that the registration will allow me to provide banking info for the stimulus check. But no, Turbotax only collects the mailing address which i don't want to use.
Called the customer service and they wanted to charge me $30.00 to speak to the agent.
I never get refunds, so none of my previous filings with IRS had my bank information. It looks like I will have to file 2019 tax return on my own.
TURBOTAX -- FIX YOUR SOFTWARE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We're is the portal to enter my direct deposit information
I did don't need to file taxes and put my direct deposit info in so i could stimulus check i looked at 1040 IRS accepted it shows XXXXX on direct deposit line why did turbotax ask for direct deposit and didn't even add it?
You can file a $1 return. You will be fine.
For the majority of us who are paying in it's a slow wait and slog. The idea that the treasury will build a portal is hysterical. Clients who have been waiting for tax returns for two months now are still waiting
Chase Bank.....account#...[social security number removed].....Routing#...[social security number removed]
Ive had my taxes deposited on a turbo tax card so that is the info on file so will the stimulus check be deposited on those as well or if not i cant find anywhere to update my banking info
Where can I find the portal so that I can update my bank information and file for a dollar?
There is no portal for that. You would open a TurboTax account and file a regular tax return. Instead of doing that, wait a few more days for the IRS to open up a portal that will allow you to enter your direct deposit information without the need to prepare and file a complete tax return. Here is a link to follow: https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/economic-impact-payments-what-you-need-to-know
Tt can you hurry and please make a program that just allows us to enter our updated direct deposit info ... already filed 2019 just banking info changed... there is NO place yet to do this and it may be too late by the time someone makes one
TurboTax is not allowed to do this. The IRS should have a portal open by the end of the week 4/7/20. See this web site to track availability: https://www.irs.gov/newsroom/economic-impact-payments-what-you-need-to-know
Where are you getting the information that the portal will be open the week of 4/7/2020 (actually the business week of 4/6/2020)? The link you included does not include a date certain and the Department of Treasury (including the IRS) and the White House have so far refused to identify a date when the portal will be ready.
So if you owe federal taxes, like a lot of us do each year, there is no way to use TurboTax to give the IRS your Direct Deposit information. It just shows as X’s on the return. I called them and was literally laughed at by a TurboTax agent “If you don’t get refunds why would we collect your direct deposit information” she said.
Yea, I’m glad I pay $110.00 to file my taxes with this software. I set up an automatic payment draft for the amount owed; maybe that will provide them the direct deposit info they need. I’m not holding my breath.
I've been asking this question everyday!! This is absolutely crazy! We need our money now!!
hold on..... the IRS has BANK information if you provided it on your return. So if you provided that bank information for EITHER you refund or because you owed money and required that the IRS draft you account, the IRS has that information.
I do appreciate that if you filed but did not provide ANY bank information, there is currently no way to provide that to the IRS; the default would be a check.
@Gloira 15 - there IRS hasn't built it yet, so if you filed already, there is nothing more you can do at this point
