When my state refund is 1500 and then it says i have a overpayment of 1500 and it ask me if i want to apply it all to my taxes & i select yes it takes all my refund?

What happens if i dont and i keep the 1500

Sounds like you told it to keep your refund and apply it as an estimated payment to next year.  Did you file it yet?  If not then go through the State tab again, probably near the end and look for that screen again to change it.  Change it to No and delete the amount.

 

If you already filed then next year remember to enter the amount to get credit for it.

If you chose the option to apply the 2023 tax refund to the 2024 taxes then you will not receive the 2023 tax refund.  It will be reported on the 2024 tax return as being applied to the taxes on the return.

 

If you wish to receive the 2023 tax refund this year, do not apply the refund to next years taxes.
