When I filed my federal taxes I was due a refund of 5028 but since I did an amendment is now says I owe 42 dollars, does that mean I don't get a refund?

It means that you DO get the refund, but you will need to send 42 dollars back. The refund you are due is 42 less than the original refund. The original return will be processed before they process the amended return, so plan to sent them $42.00 before tax day, April 17th.
