When does my payment of federal taxes owed go through?

I used one of my debit cards for payment of federal taxes owed over a week ago. My debit card statement is showing the "convenience fee" that was deducted but not the actual amount paid for. Does it take additional time to be deducted from my debit card? Or did I do something wrong? Is there a way to see when my payment will be deducted?

If you selected a specific date it could take the IRS after that date to withdraw the funds this time of year.  If you did not specify a date, then the default date is April 15th for the funds to withdrawn.

In the meantime, keep an eye on your bank account — if you still don't see the debit 7–10 days after your return has been accepted, call IRS e-file Payment Services at 1-888-353-4537 or contact your state tax agency, as appropriate.
