What should I do if my daughter received a letter from the IRS that she needs to revise her 2019 tax form in order to get her stimulus payment, Now what do I do?

That might be a scam.   If your daughter did not receive a stimulus payment  then the way to get it is by filing a 2020 tax return and using the recovery rebate credit.  The stimulus payment is no longer based on a 2019 return.   Changing a 2019 tax return would not result in a stimulus payment.   The IRS now bases the 1st and/or 2nd stimulus payment ONLY on a 2020 tax return.  They do not go backwards now and use 2019 information.

The stimulus check is an advance on a credit you can receive on your 2020 tax return.  If something went wrong or you did not get the stimulus check in 2020, you can get it when you file your 2020 return in early 2021

The Recovery Rebate Credit will be found in the FEDERAL REVIEW section. ( you should see "Let's make sure you got the right stimulus amount”)  If you are eligible it will end up on line 30 of your 2020 Form 1040.

Make sure that you enter ALL of the stimulus money received for the 1st and 2nd stimulus for yourself, your spouse and your children.

Amending the 2019 tax return will have no effect on any stimulus she was eligible to receive.

If she was not a dependent in 2020 and otherwise eligible, she should have filed a 2020 tax return for any stimulus payments she did

not

receive, either the first or second payment.  Payments

not

received are entered on the 2020 tax return as a Recovery Rebate Credit on Form 1040 Line 30.  The credit is included in the 2020 federal tax refund or the credit will reduce any 2020 federal taxes owed.

The third stimulus payment is sent by the IRS based on the latest federal tax return on file with the IRS, either the 2020 or 2019 tax return.
