What is a statement from IRS saying I have interest income from the IRS?

Its only for $13.92 with no description on who paid it to me

The payer is "US Treasury".

Are you referring to an IRS letter? If you got back your taxes late, the irs is required to pay interest after a certain amount of time. This is probably what you are referring to. They sent out letters that stated the interest that was paid to you and to claim it as income on your tax return.

so where do we enter that letter in the system on turbo tax?  because I made a mistake and filed it on my wages and income, and I got through to the IRS and spoke with a representative and he said that's not where it goes that's why they have a hold on my account.

You should have received a 1099-INT from the IRS.

This Turbo Tax FAQ will provide steps to enter a 1099-INT.

Enter interest from the IRS like a 1099Int and put the amount in box 1.
Enter a 1099-Int under
Federal
Wages & Income
Interest and Dividends
Interest on 1099INT - Click the Start or Update button

Put the interest amount in box 1

Don't enter a bank or broker name and don't try to import it. At the bottom pick - Change How I enter my Form

Then on the next screen pick I'll Type it in Myself

For information on this, you will need to reach directly out to the IRS.

IRS: 800-829-1040

Hours: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM, local time

Monday-Friday

  • Listen to each menu before making the selection.
  • First, choose your language. Press 1 for English.
  • Then do NOT choose the first choice re: "Refund", or it will send you to an automated phone line.
  • Instead, press 2 for "personal income tax".
  • Then press 1 for "form, tax history, or payment".
  • Then press 3 "for all other questions."
  • Then press 2 "for all other questions."  It should then transfer you to an agent.

Or, you can visit your local IRS Office
