What if I filed the wrong federal return?

I might have accidentally e-filed my 2015 federal return instead of the 2016 return.

How can I verify whether this was the case? And, if I did file the wrong return, how do I submit the 2016 return without creating confusion? Thank you.

To make changes to an e-filed return that has either been accepted by the government or a paper return that has already been mailed, you'll need to amend. You cannot amend an e-filed return that's in pending or rejected status.

Please refer to the steps below to complete the amendment process through TurboTax. You must submit amended returns by mail - they cannot be e-filed.
